Effective Relationships
'Kayla has developed positive relationships with both students and staff within the school. Relationships are always on a professional and appraochable manner'- Jenny Roberts, Mooroolbark College 2012.
A personal characteristic I am regularly commended for is my friendly manner and genuine interest in people’s lives, which I view as crucial in developing effective professional relationships to ensure student wellbeing.
Within Secondary school environments I make sure I focus on:
- Learning students names which is a useful rapport and management technique.
- Discussing folio ideas with senior students to gain in insight into their interests to support and develop a deeper relationship.
- Interacting with students whilst on yard duty, moving in-between classes and in home group to stimulate conversations, demonstrating interest and importance of individuality.
