The Classroom
'She responded well to practical advice, implementing suggested changes as quickly as possible’ – Stuart Maile, Parkwood Secondary College, 2011.
Establishing a positive classroom culture and clear expectations of appropriate student behaviour individually and in a cooperative setting, is a key feature I as teacher, must incorporate into my practices. This aims to ensure students take responsibility for their own learning and support the learning of others within their educational environment.
I understand that respectful and social relationships amongst all students and teachers is necessary to faciliate a safe and supportive environment, where students can effectively cooperate together and abide by set classroom structures that are implemented.
In my classroom and work environment I always make sure I focus on:
A Positive Environment
Student Wellbeing
Building Effective Relationships
Classroom Management

Reflection
The classroom where you educate your students is the foundation where students inquire, investigate and demonstrate their learning. To achieve this students must feel valued by their peers and teacher. Within my classroom, I set the standards regarding expectations and behaviour and therefore, I commission an environment that reflects a happy, cooperative and respectful atmosphere. Based on my own experiences, these 4 aspects have long lasting effects, contributing to facilitating a positive environment that enhances learning. I want to work in an environment where students respect me as a person and this can only be achieved if I respect each of my own students however, I do acknowledge that this is one of the hardest challenges I face as a graduate teacher, due to external factors such as emotions which can interfere with the wellbeing of students and therefore their learning and behaviour.
